Male and Female Ways of Committing to Practice

This is part 2 of a video continued from this post.

Doen Sensei discusses what it means when you commit to your practice and talks about the male & female versions of excelling in your practice.

He also talks about access to teachers, and personal interviews with his Fourth Way teacher Mr. Willem Nyland.

Also discussed are reasons why students sometimes justify not listening to their teacher.

Thank you Doen Sensei, many gasshos.

I love what you said about becoming a great warrior- “who you are is more important than how the circumstances in the story go”. I also love the word you used, “Untouchable” as we find out more who we are.

I enjoy writing down things you say in my composition book such as, be the “Master of my own stuff, negativity, fear and own story”.

These videos you share are a rare time that I am able to hear you speak and receive your teachings. Once again, thank you.

I needed to hear what you said about teachers and an emotional agenda tonight. I feel like you accept me for who I am and that you see me as genuinely as possible. I think it’s a very special thing when this goes both ways and the teacher-student relationship is built on a lot of trust. To me, that trust is essential to commitment in relationships, so thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I sure hope that you can Caryn find many adventures in beautiful San Francisco. Wishing you the best and thinking of you both–

    Peedee
