Lost Coin Notes - March 15, 2011 As a group we read aloud the Noble Eightfold Path. Right View Right Intention Right Speech Right Action Right Livelihood Right Effort Right Mindfulness Right Concentration LZC members discussed the specific the topics that are currently being addressed or want to be focused on by the individual in our group. Right Action and the notion of cause and effect was considered, particularly when we think about the food (animal products) we eat and the many ways we can steal from a group or another individual. Right Speech was also considered as currently significant. We discussed the types of speech, what is ones intention in talking, how complaining can be a way of making a connection and how sarcasm can be a way of saying what cannot be directly spoken. Right Mindfulness encourages each of us to be more aware and to be careful to avoid placing our preconceived concepts in a neat little box. Right Action led to a discussion of what is "right"...what leads to less suffering. We sat and rather than dropping thought Doen instructed us to follow the thought. People discussed what occurred for them. It was an effort to not drop thought. Being stuck in a loop of thought. Most thought were negative rather than positive, often self critical or "to do lists". Some found it easier to drop thought when instructed not to drop thought. Ruminations abound "not sinusitis again". We discussed I AM in relation to our assignment and enjoyed Liz's birthday cup cakes. Doen took the night of to celebrate his birthday. Rhiannon's new book has been published and looks great. it can be purchased at rhi-created .com
