Reset: Where We Are Stuck And What To Do About It
Lost Coin is offering a special weekly email series of 4 videos by Doen Sensei. These videos are a short course in the ideas and practices of Lost Coin Zen. They will allow you a glimpse of the depths of this practice and how it can help you create excellence in your daily life.

Looking forward to giving myself a “ctrl-alt-del”. Thank you for making this video course available Sensei.
I totally agree with Sterling. It’s amazing! – Time to kill some mental processes
Thanks
Thank you for this beautiful first part of the video course, Sensei! During the last few days, I’ve wondered a lot about what success and excellence mean. It didn’t even come to my mind that there might be a difference between what these things mean for me and what I believe it to mean for the rest of the world. I think that, very often, I just believe that everybody expects me to be or to do things in a certain way when actually nobody does. And, in cases when others really do expect me to do things in a certain way, what exactly happens if I make another choice? I’ll investigate that further
@ Andre
Thank you so much for your support.
@ Chris
My next post relates to what you say. We tie our selves up without a rope. Sometimes we do it by making other peoples opinions (imagined or real) the rope.
I just read something yesterday that was written in the 12th century and it basically says this same thing but I couldn’t hear it as clearly. Thanks for this video Doen. By using our contemporary language, your meaning cuts straight through.
I really enjoyed hearing about the potential of the self to transcend identifications and expand. It is a nice reminder of why it is important to study the self.
Hi there,
This course is nice. I like the no-hype factor. There are millions of videos out there that tell you about “the meaning of life” – “transformation practices” etc. what makes this legit for me here is the way of presentation.
there seemed to be some issues with the subscription/mailing thing. only yesterday my wife received no #2. I never saw #2. Now, today, I found no#3 in my inbox. Maybe I misunderstood, but I thought the idea was to do this in weekly intervals, right? maybe it’s just an issue with my mail server.
Thanks
André
From course #3 you said, “We have these beautiful minds that can do all kinds of analysis and visualization and understanding and parallel processing and we have a whole other area that we don’t usually look into very carefully. And that’s the area where there’s no thought.” Prior to this, I had never thought of that as an “area of my mind”. I love having this new way to perceive my mind; it is a new way to be and, in itself, a small incremental letting go of my story.
I know, Andre, really. Who could ever ask for anything better than free instructions on how to get your mojo back! <3
But, yeah. Where did #3 go? Maybe Sensei is playing some kind of zen trick on us.
@Andre
Thanks I appreciate your comments as always. The problems you have experienced are our mistake. We have added links to previous videos from each video and you should receive an email that will allow to access any of the videos some time today.
@ Vicki
Hope you had a happy birthday How are you? Sorry we messed up. You will get an email that will give you access to the third video.
I am glad you are commenting, please stay in touch.
@Amy
Thank you so much Amy for a very intelligent comment. That area is always there, when we really see, when we really hear, when we become movement but we don’t identify it.
It is really wonderful how well you understood what I am pointing at.
Can we have more comments from you in the future? That would be great.
@Sean
Thank you Sean, your concise comment is, I think, very much the heart of the matter.
@Rebecca,
It cut through if you have a good listener and practitioner, which is you. Thank you.
Thank you Doen Sensei for your inspiring talks. I found all of them helpful in reinforcing my determination to training and practice. I particularly liked talk number 4 about possibilities and dropping limitations. (Actually I particularly liked each one as I listened to them.) I hope you will consider doing another series.
After Week 3 I spent a lot of time trying to reconcile a concept within myself. The words “observation” and “scientific” were used in at least one of the talks. Objective observation makes sense to me. However, it has been difficult to convince my mind of the importance of the practice that starts where concept stops. I don’t know of a scientific practice that relies on the absence of thought. I can logically say that there is more than my mind currently conceives and more than I’ve experienced. Yet it seems to me that there is some degree of faith required to consistently explore the area of my mind where there is no thought and trust the results.
Week 4′s talk is perfect for me right now. Over the past week I came to realize some of the ways that I had been limiting myself. In the realization, some of it has dropped away. I have the desire for Endless Possibility. How can I come to trust the method of dropping thought as my method of more fully experiencing who I really am?
@Amy
Thanks Amy for this wonderful response. Before people knew about the cosmos they had to simply observe the planets, stars, galaxies etc. They didn’t figure them out – they suspended thought and looked/or observed.
Looking into the part of mind that is non conceptual is the same thing. It is observing something you are not familiar with. The less concept you bring to this observation the more objective it is. Does that make more sense. I hope it does. If not please ask some more.
Again thank you.
@Carole
Thanks so much Carole.Thanks for the encouragement and I am so happy its inspiring you.
Each talk has been like a precious gem, clear and sparkling. It has reinforced my sense of both profound nature and simplicity of practice which I heard from you at B.A. I.. Thank you for this series. Dropping limitation of all kinds, both on and off the cushion, continues to be an ongoing practice for me. Talks like this are so supportive. Namaste.
(forgot to check the box. oops.)
Dear Daniel,
i just listened to part three of your lesson.
I feel so afraid of so much things in these days, that i suppose I cannot see what really is happening in my live. And what you are saying helped me to be more conscious about this. But I think to live this practice is more than understanding the words, that you tell.
I try these times to sit a bit oftener than before. May be I`ll be more able to see what really is happening in my life now, full of joy and luck.
Thank you very much for your free lesson. I enjoy them very much. Hope to see you soon, again, may be in Düsseldorf?
Wish you all the best and to your family, too.
Maria
Dear Mr. Silberberg, I am followed your videos. Thank you for this great opportunity to get calmer and happier. I am meditating every day and I enjoy and need it! I even feel more power and peace. I wish you all the best from the bottom of my heart!
Dear Mr. Silberberg,
I have been following the free video course, but could not receive the forth part, since my provider was sort of troubled recently – I found the course very helpful so far and would like to find out more, would it be possible to give me access to the last part to help me complete the first small circle? Thank you very much for helping me understand that I am the one holding myself hostage in so many ways, which is a painful insight. But now I can at least try to move on. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and knowledge!
Hi Nele,
Sorry to take so long to respond. Please feel free to write to my own email – Daniel.silberberg@gmail.com. I would be happy to help in any way I can – or just communicate.
I was busy writing a paper on the merits of computer-based career assessment when I came across your email. Thank you for the reminder of out infinite and limitless nature. As I was dissecting personality traits and interests I forgot that part. It made me realize the potential harm that these assessments could do without this perspective by reinforcing self-stereotypes.
I was lucky enough to attended some of your fascinating talks at the Zen Centre in Salt Lake City. I am now living in New Zealand and have really missed studying Zen with you. I was thrilled to find your website and look forward to the next video.
Sarah
Thank you Sarah. I would love to hear about New Zealand. If you are interested in studying with me I teach students long distance by skype. Anyway my email is Doen@lostcoinzen.com and I would be happy to hear from you.
Dear Sensei, I have been astounded by observing myself through out the day. There is worry, fear and a lot of unconsciousness I was not aware of. We can become our own worst enemy.
I have taken steps to make myself conscious of everything around me and then let it go. I am finding less fear, less worry and more happiness. I will continue using the tools you have given me and keep up the work. My wife and children are seeing a change in me for the positive. Maybe the Mojo coming back? . It was always there and I got lostI
