Not meant as criticism, just want to point out that Ch’an does not mean “to sit” as mentioned in the video.
It is the “za” in za-zen or tso-ch’an(坐禅) that means “to sit”.
Ch’an or Zen comes from the Sanskrit Dhyana (झान) which is usually translated as “meditation”, though in older texts it refers to the meditative state and not the “action” itself.
As to where the “Shu” in Tokusan’s nickname “Diamond Shu” comes from, as far as we know it was his Chinese family name.
